In contrast to linear guides with roller bearings, sliding guides do not have rolling elements (balls or rollers) for force transmission. Rather, they function with sliding elements. The corresponding increase in the contact area between the components enables a large load capacity. The associated low maintenance is a noteworthy advantage of sliding guides.
